The Musical Freestyle (Kur)

I would like you to describe how to prepare a Musical Freestyle (Kur). I suppose the horse should be used to work with music.

The purpose of the music during a Musical embellish the horse, to underline his artistic side and to show off his gaits, so he is shown to his advantage.

Unfortunately, the music is often only playing along, a background noise, "elevator" music with no soul. The required changes of rhythm are sometimes too sudden, too mechanical, and the different parts don't match with each other. Too often, the tempo is marked too obviously, the drums are too pronounced.

To present a dressage horse, above all, is to show off the way he rounds himself up, the relaxation of his movements, his dynamics, the ability to move seamlessly, his lightness and his balance.

The music should not accompany the horse: it should be a part of the horse.

Rider, Horse and Music are one.

And every horse possesses his own inside music, his own cadence and tempo.

A individual "color", an "emotion" originates from every horse!

All the Art is to feel this personal touch in the horse and to show it off.
In other words, it's the horse who dictates which music to chose… the rider is only the director, or rather the composer. A composer, or a creator will try to transmit emotion, reflect a state of mind… try to let through a glimpse of their profound being.

Let the spectators and the judge see the special qualities of your horse! Even better: these qualities should become obvious, brilliant!
